St. Jude’s Research Hospital was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, and the event was held on what would have been his 1ooth birthday. Phil Donahue, who’s married to Thomas’ daughter Marlo, hosted the event and actor Ray Romano performed a special birthday tribute.

A commemorative postage stamp of Thomas, which goes on sale Feb. 16, was also unveiled at the gala. The benefit reportedly raised over $1 million for the organization. For more on St. Jude’s visit www.stjude.org
