You may know Katherine Heigl as Izzie Stevens  from Grey’s Anatomy and from a few pretty funny movies: Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth and Life as We Know It.

What you may not know about Katherine Heigl is that she is an animal rights advocate deeply involved in animal rescue and promoting spaying and neutering your pets. Katherine and her Mom Nancy started a foundation to further the cause and impact the lives of animals in memory of her brother Jason who also loved animals. Another cause close to Katherine’s heart is adoption. She and husband Josh Kelley have adopted two little girls (Nancy Leigh Mi-Eun Kelley & Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley). The two will be honored on September 12th in Katherine’s hometown-Washington D.C. as “National Angels In Adoption”, an award given to individuals or organizations whose contributions in the fields of adoption or foster care that have had a national impact.
