Lady Gaga has teamed up with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, to create a foundation that will help “empower youth and inspire bravery.” Named after her latest album, the Born This Way Foundation will tackle “issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development.”
The singer made the announcement on her website www.ladygaga.com Wednesday. According to Gaga, the foundation will partner with organizations that include the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Harvard University and The California Endowment.
In a statement Gaga said: “My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation. Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.”
