Debra Messing’s Virtual Toy Drive

Categories: Debra Messing

Debra Messing has teamed up with eBay to make the season brighter for children this year. The online auction giant launched two “Give-A-Toy” charity store fronts this week, and Messing was at the New York store for its opening earlier this week.

Tech savvy shoppers in New York and San Francisco can use their smart phones to donate to Toys for Tots by downloading an eBay mobile app or scanning a QR code. A virtual price tag will pop up ranging in amounts from $2 through $25, which triggers an instant donation to Toys for Tots. Once the donation is made animated toys appear in the storefront and thank the shopper for their generosity.

“It always feels good to give, but I think it is especially gratifying during the holiday season,” Messing told reporters. “I’m really excited eBay and Toys for Tots asked me to help open the “Give-A-Toy Store” here in New York. It’s a fun and interactive way to spread some holiday cheer this year – you can donate toys to kids in need, right from a smartphone.”
