Brad Pitt Goes Back to School for Charity

Brad Pitt is going back to school to build affordable, green housing for the people of Kansas City, MO.

The Moneyball actorโ€™s โ€œMake It Right Foundationโ€ is teaming up with city officials to convert a 103-year-old school into a 29 unit apartment building with a community center on the main floor.

The $14 million project, which is funded in part by Pittโ€™s foundation, also includes the development of a new building with 21 apartments.

According to reports, the development will be constructed to the highest environmental standards.

Pitt, who grew up in Springfield, MO., was unable to attend the press conference announcing the project, but is expected to be there for its completion in the spring of 2013.

The โ€œMake It Right Foundationโ€ was established in 2007 to help rebuild the City of New Orleansโ€™ Lower 9th Ward, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. ย To date, the organization has built 150 healthy, sustainable and affordable homes.ย The Kansas City project will be the organizationโ€™s first renovation and the second project outside of New Orleans.
