A school district’s recent award for nutritional excellence prompted actress Natalie Portman to send a letter congratulating the superintendent. Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Unified School District won the grand prize at the 2011 Golden Carrot Awards, which is physician-judged award that recognizes healthy school lunch programs.
