George Clooney is a “Descendant”

George Clooney gives us a tear jerking performance in his recent movie “The Descendants.”  The story line keeps it real bringing on so many emotions at the same time. George’s wife is in a coma while he is trying to figure out how to raise their two daughters and at the same time decide whether to sell inherited land in Hawaii among his family members.

One of George’s daughters is played by Shailene Woodley from the popular ABC Family television show “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Goldie Hawn Gives Back!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Goldie Hawn and the opportunity to talk to her about the cause close to her heart, the MindUP Program. Goldie’s program provides children with emotional and cognitive tools to help them manage emotions and behaviors, reduce stress, sharpen concentration, and increase empathy and optimism.

The program is specifically for children in K-8th grade.

MindUP will be expanding into the Miami Dade Public Schools starting February 2nd.

Van Halen Brings Music to Schools

Music class will never be the same for LA school kids now that famed rocker Eddie Van Halen has donated 75 guitars to the district.

The electric guitars were donated from Van Halen’s private collection to the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, which is a national organization that supports music in public school.

Demi Moore and daughter Rumer Willis came out last night to support Haiti and Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization. The event titled Sean Penn and Friends Cinema for Peace Event took place in Los Angeles at the Montage Hotel.

Other big names that filled the room included Julia Roberts, Mel Gibson, Josh Brolin, Diane Lane, Melanie Griffith, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Salma Hayek, Orlando Bloom, Felicity Jones, Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster), Hilary Swank, Kim Kardashian, James Gandolfini and Rainn Wilson. In case you didn’t know Madonna and I are both from Michigan. The “Material Girl” is about to release her new film titled W.E. This will be Madonna’s second directorial debut. She also co-wrote the film.

W.E. is centered around King Edward the VIII’s romance with Wallis Simpson, the woman he gave up the thrown for and married in 1936. W.E. stands for the initials Wallis and Edward which is how they ended each of their letters to eachother.

Stars Shine at the PS Film Festival

It was a starry evening in the California desert at the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday. Some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities including Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Tom Hanks attended the awards ceremony.

George Clooney was given the Chairman’s Award for his work in “The Descendants” and “The Ides of March.” Brad Pitt picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award for his roles in “Moneyball” and “The Tree of Life.”
